THis months NERD of the MONTH is Miyuki Cosplay from Cananda! She is a Chinese Canadian from Vancouver Canada.
Ilovesexynerds: Do you have a mini bio about yourself?
Miyuki Cosplay: I’m a Chinese-Canadian cosplayer based in Vancouver, Canada. I’ve always wanted to be a video game character. The dream is to be a glass cannon sorceress who teams up with awesome party members to save the world (Final Fantasy style!). To learn more about me check out my introduction video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzisyDzl0JY
Ilovesexynerds: What is the craziest story you could tell us?
I’m terrified of heights by the way.
Ilovesexynerds: Do you have any projects coming up?
Ilovesexynerds: Do people recognize you when you go to cons?
Ilovesexynerds: Tell us about your website? ?
Miyuki Cosplay: No website so far! I have a presence on several social media platforms, but the best ways to connect with me are through my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/miyuki123) and Twitter (@MiyukiCosplay).
Ilovesexynerds: How did you get into doing cosplay costumes?
Miyuki Cosplay: My friend really wanted me to cosplay with her at Anime North 2012, so we both ordered costumes from China. Mine was really crappy, so I decided to make it from scratch the night before. I pulled an all-nighter handsewing the FFX-2 lenne costume and was fairly content with the results, and has been cosplaying ever since ☺
In a nutshell: started cosplay because of peer pressure, fell in love with it because it really is amazing to see your hard work materialize!
Ilovesexynerds: What inspires you when you choose characters?
Ilovesexynerds: Marvel vs DC vs Anime?
Miyuki Cosplay: Anime/Manga for sure! I absolute LOVE seinen manga (manga targeted towards males 17-40 years of age) and always read it when I’m on public transit, which is awkward sometimes because you never know when the next page is going to be full of nudity XD
Ilovesexynerds: What was your childhood like growing up?
Miyuki Cosplay: I was awkward and introverted, and immigrating to Canada at the age of 9 only made it harder for me to make friends. In fact, I didn’t have many friends until I started University. My parents were the typical strict and overprotective Asian parents, and wouldn’t let me go out or do anything after school. As a result, I spent most of my free time holed up in my room playing MMORPG’s under the pretence of doing homework. X_X Sounds familiar? Haha~
Ilovesexynerds: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Miyuki Cosplay: I will have finished my Ph.D by that time, and probably will either be working or pursuing further education. Maybe I will have started a family too, who knows! Hopefully I will still have time for my hobbies! In any case I hope I will still be as happy and fun as I am today, and not let the stress of “adult life” get to me.
Ilovesexynerds: What do you like to do for fun?
Miyuki Cosplay: I have a lot of hobbies, but sadly not enough time for all of them! Other than cosplay, I also love salsa dancing, cooking, playing instruments (flute, synthesizer, guzheng), writing music (have a few instrumental tracks on my Youtube), and of course watching anime and playing video games!
Ilovesexynerds: What kind of music do you like?
Miyuki Cosplay: Is it lame if I said I like video game music? Final Fantasy music is my life, and I absolutely worship Nobuo Uematsu. His ability to instill tremendous emotion in the audience is unrivalled.
Ilovesexynerds: What kind of nerd are you?
Miyuki Cosplay: Tri-nerd! By that I mean a combination of music nerd, video game nerd, and science nerd. Forgive me if I make science jokes, it happens 😛
Ilovesexynerds: What is the hottest costume you have ever worn?
Miyuki Cosplay: So far it would probably be Battle Bunny Riven from LoL or RO Stalker. The upcoming Touhou racing girl is pretty hot, and I also have a Sailor Mars boudoir cosplay possibly in the making!
Ilovesexynerds: Favorite food?
Miyuki Cosplay: Food is the love of my life. If I had to name one I would say ice cream, but meat and kimchi chiggae also rank pretty high up there.
Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, Golden Sun, Ragnarok Online, DDR/ITG/Stepmania

ILSN: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Mandee: My name is Mandee, and I was born and raised in Canada! I’ve been watching anime and gaming since I was a small child. I thank my older brother for introducing me into the great nerd world.
ILSN: What is the craziest story you could tell us?
Mandee: When I was 15 years old taking the train in Japan, I was in a hurry and rushed onto the train. My arm got caught in the door and I couldn’t get it out. The train started to move and I thought my arm was going to get blown off. I kept pulling and was calling for help, but everyone just stared at me. The door opened slightly somehow and I fell backwards. Good thing I still have my arm haha.
ILSN: How did you get into doing cosplay costumes?
Mandee: I’ve always wanted to cosplay because I’m such a big fan of anime, so eventually I ended up doing it, even if I did it alone haha.
ILSN: What inspires you when you choose characters?
Mandee: I’m not sure, I kind of just fall in love with the character and decide I want to cosplay them.
ILSN: What was your childhood like growing up?
Mandee: Quite normal; I went to school, played games, watched anime, ate food, and slept. I actually didn’t have very many friends, and found it difficult to relate to others in my class.
ILSN: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Mandee: Haha I don’t know! Anything could happen really. I hope to still be doing cosplay.
ILSN: What is the most interesting experience you have ever had at a CON?
Mandee: The first time I went to a US con was Anime Expo (in 2013). I didn’t really know anyone there, and I had just gotten into cosplaying. When I entered the convention center I was rushed by so many people asking to take a photo of me/with me, and I was just standing there really surprised and posing badly haha. I even heard some hate comments about me, which made me feel disheartened. It all happened really fast, which was a cool experience.
> ILSN: What do you like to do for fun?
Mandee: Watch anime, play random games, eat waffles, surf the web, look at weird things on Ebay… the list goes on.
ILSN: What kind of music do you like?
Mandee: I mostly listen to EDM, but I listen to all kinds of music.
ILSN: What is the nerdiest thing you have done?>
Mandee: When I was into World of Warcraft, I really wanted the Netherwing drake mount, and the only way to get it is to be exalted reputation with Netherwing. So I did the daily quests everyday, and I memorized all the spawn points of the eggs and searched for them every hour/few hours so I can collect them and hand them in for rep. I did this for 20 days straight and got my Netherdrake. May not be my nerdiest thing, but I was pretty damn happy after I got it.
ILSN: What is the craziest gift a fan has ever given you?
Mandee: I haven’t received many gifts. I recently got a Kill la Kill charm from a cool person!
ILSN: Favorite Movies?
Mandee: Studio Ghibli ones ~
ILSN: Favorite Video Games?

ILSN: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Xxfruitcakexx: I encourage people to get into cosplay. Its a great experience and you learn so much about yourself and those around you. If not cosplay, loving to do something so much and having the passion is a great way to express yourself and no matter what anyone says, you love what you love and you do it for you.
