NERD of the MONTH Kali Chung

1456598_466464913472908_555456976_n      Via Kali Chung “Cosplaying – They always say your first job leaves the biggest impression on you for your future jobs. My first job was working as a “mistress” at Medieval Times. I had to dress up in those RenFaire type of clothes and loved it. I was there for 6 months before transitioning to Disneyland working as Mulan (primarily) and other characters. At Disneyland I saw all the makeup and hair people and seamstresses work to create these beautiful costumes. That really ignited the flame for interest in character costumes. (I didn’t know it was called cosplay back then)

My very first cosplay that I did was Violet from The Incredibles. Then it was Ruena from Runes of Gallidon, an online fantasy world, Female 11th Doctor (Doctor Who), Lei Fang (Dead or Alive 5 DLC outfit), Tifa Lockhart (FFVII)… (working on my next one based on a video game character).

I’ve also been hired to cosplay various other characters for different events and shoots. That’s always fun!!! Sometimes it’s good to take a break from making and sewing and put on other people’s creative goods!

Videogaming – Love to play. RPG’s are my fave!

I wish to continue my journey in this industry and help out others along the way. My lifetime goal would be to make a living as an on-camera personality.

Very thankful for the friends I’ve met, life lessons learned, and great moments experienced. o^___^o”

ILSN:   First question. Do you have any nicknames?
Kali Chung:  I go by Kal…like Kal-El…I love Superman~!1897840_516294171823315_1460944349_n

ILSN: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Kali Chung:  Mmmmm…5 things: Listener, Eater, Exercise Enthusiast, Otaku, Sensitive Soul

ILSN: What inspired you to get into the entertainment industry?
Kali Chung:  In college my major was Entertainment Art and that allowed me the opportunity to work for a 3D animation company. As I was there, I came across actors’ headshots for the project we were working on and thought, “What is this?” That started my “Hey! I can be an actor!”journey. Modeling opportunities came first and then acting jobs. After several years I grew interested in casting and that’s where I am now. Ideally, I would like to continue as a casting director, working alongside my mentor and friend.

ILSN:  Any words of advice for people trying to get into the industry?
Kali Chung:  “Don’t stop believing. Hold on to that feeling~” (I’m singing that if you can’t tell) But it’s true. Go into it because you want to. Stay in it because you love the craft. The money and bookings will not always come so on those days you must remember what is your foundation, what gives you hope to continue in your craft.

1526460_480567532062646_2011764504_nILSN:  I love your youtube page. Tell us a little bit about your page.
Kali Chung:  Really? OMG, thanks so much for watching my vids! Originally, I had started a YouTube page with various videos, but then I got a manager who guided me into branding it to World of Kali. So in WoK my videos cover conventions/cosplay, food, and various other journeys that I want to share with others – including my trip to Disney Sea in Tokyo, Japan!1528760_489560704496662_1844404667_n

ILSN:  How was life living in Japan? How would you compare the culture with the United States?
Kali Chung:  I have to say, I love your questions! Living in Japan…I never thought it was possible to fall in love with a country, but there I was…waking up to the sun’s reflection on the many business skyscrapers in Tokyo everyday. And every night I would fall asleep watching the same skyscrapers stand majestically in the darkness…and smile. I know, so corny!!! But the way of life is different. Homeless people don’t ask for handouts; they keep to themselves or they let you pet their many cats that they have. You never feel scared or threatened even when walking around at 2 am. No tips for services. Every employee gives you their very best service and if you tip them, they freak out. Bathrooms are clean and efficient. Public transportation is fast and easy to understand. Grocery stores have FREE water refill centers so that you can always have clean drinking water at home. Food tastes amazing without all these crazy GMO’s that American food have. The people are polite and if you are too, everyone gets along perfectly. I can go on and on and on… Oh yeah! FLOORS THAT HEAT UP!!!68496_4677967426735_1158819905_n

969476_477065692412830_1542839058_nILSN:  Cool cosplay costumes! What inspires you when you choose characters?
Kali Chung:  Thank you! Anything can inspire me. I’m pretty random (you’ll notice as you get to know me more) and am open to suggestions. However, I will say that I must feel a strong affinity for whomever I cosplay as…

ILSN:  What is the one cosplay outfit you are most proud of?
Kali Chung:  Ooh wow… that’s a hard one. Each one is special to me in its own way, but I would have to say my Violet from The Incredibles is the one I’m most proud of. I had a photo out there, but it got taken down when I disabled my old blog.

ILSN:  Marvel vs DC vs Anime?
Kali Chung:  Why are you making this so difficult?!

1465408_469253156527417_782776763_nILSN:  What was your childhood like growing up?
Kali Chung:  Hard…and full of dreams for better places and people.

1402464_466470520139014_620233039_oILSN:  Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Kali Chung:  5 years from now I would like to travel to more places, be stable in the world of casting/entertainment, and hopefully be more involved in helping others.10336858_10203047036392763_1057213334705247204_n

ILSN:  What’s shows are you watching right now?
Kali Chung:  Revenge, Resurrection, Castle, Arrow… Waiting for the new season of Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Downton Abbey.

ILSN:  Is there anything you are promoting right now?
Kali Chung:  No, but I want to promote Yogurtland!

ILSN:  What is the nerdiest thing you have done?
Kali Chung:  Oh no…too many to list… I collected Marvel and Disney cards back in the 90’s and never told any of my friends, only my brother knew. We would go to the baseball card shop every week and use lunch money to buy cards and when we’d get home, we’d geek over the stats of Uatu, stare in awe at Captain Britain’s outfit, or talk excitedly about another Marvel all-out war that seemed to be going on.

ILSN:  Do people ever recognize you when you go out?
Kali Chung:  Only at conventions! It’s the best feeling in the world and I enjoy meeting new people!1476073_467403640045702_1908735188_n

ILSN:  What is the craziest gift a fan has ever given you?
Kali Chung:  A Barbie from the 80’s. Long story.

ILSN:  What is the hottest costume you have ever worn?
Kali Chung:  Hahahahahahah!!! Ummmmm…Band Eeyore at Disneyland. Reason being, when I was dressed like him, I’d be the band conductor and flail my arms around energetically. That got hot fast.1499449_10152153800965883_443342732_n

ILSN:  Any advice to new cosplayers out there?
Kali Chung:  There are tons of videos and communities out there who will be there to encourage and support your creativity so just go and create your costume! First time is always the scariest and most exciting!

ILSN:  Favorite food?
Kali Chung:  Mirugai sushi

ILSN:  Favorite Movies?
Kali Chung:  I appreciate all movies that I watch and there’s always something special about each of them.

ILSN:  Favorite Video Games?
Kali Chung:  Okami, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-Men Legends 1 & 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, and Naruto: The Broken Bond.540024_10101662044621111_555445310_n

NERD of the MONTH Mila De

This months NERD of the month is MILA DE!  She is a model from Las Vegas NV and represents the TMNT van!  She was nice enough to do a quick interview at the Long Beach Comiccon last year.

ILSN: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Do you have a mini bio about yourself?

Mila De:  My name is Mila De, I’m short. Born in Fayetteville, NC, raised in Highlands Ranch, CO and Castle Rock, CO, and now a resident in Los Angeles, CA! Graduated high school in Roseville, CA then moved to Las Vegas, NV. The oldest of four brothers and one sister. Raised by my mother who is a former model and actress, and stepfather who is a chef. I love food, mainly sweets! I have a toy yorkie named Miko, my friends like to call him Megatron because I call him Makoto, they think that’s what it sounds like. I have been modeling since 2008, have had features in music videos, small acting roles in television shows and movies, and in my spare time practices playing the guitar, ukulele, and/or piano.

2014-04-02 14.32.14

ILSN:  What is the craziest story you could tell us?

Mila De:   Hm .. I think I have too many of those, pretty inappropriate to share LOL! I slept through two earthquakes and woke up to my friends from Las Vegas and Roseville blowing up my phone asking if I’m okay. I don’t think that’s too crazy, but yeeeahh … my craziest story are not very appropriate he-he-he!

ILSN:  Do you have any projects coming up?

Mila De:   I do, but I was told to keep it a secret.. But another project is my outfit for Extreme Autofest Anaheim, which my good friend and designer JRock Ginger is helping me design, I’m so excited!

ILSN:  How do you feel representing the Ninja Turtle Van?

Mila De:   I love representing the TMNT Van! Especially since one of my good friends’ is the owner, we always have fun anywhere we go with the TMNT Van.
It’s pretty awesome meeting people and families at shows and conventions who grew up to TMNT. I’m always in awe when I see families dress up as each character .. parents passing on something from their childhood to their children of this new generation.
The TMNT Van has become even more awesome because now there are REAL Ninja Turtles too!

ILSN:  What is the most interesting experience you had hanging out with them?

Mila De:   The most interesting experience I had with the TMNT Van .. has to be when I first saw the van at Hot Import Nights Pomona in March 2012 and met the owner. I was super stoked and nervous because it was the real deal right in front of me. When I met the owner of the van, Jason, a mutual friend of ours wanted to take pictures of me with the van, then Jason offered if I wanted to take a picture inside the van with the Michelangelo display — of course I said yes, hah. Another model and I got in the van and all the photographers started shooting. The other model grabbed Mikey’s head so she can kiss him and she basically pulled his head off. We just went with it continuing to take pictures as we made faces and Jason putting Mikey’s head back together.IMG_46318306723155

ILSN:  Who is your favorite Ninja Turtle?

Mila De:   My favorite Ninja Turtle has always been Michelangelo, because of his high energy and goofiness.img_1537

ILSN:  How did you get into doing cosplay costumes?

Mila De:   My photographer got me into cosplay! When my photographer saw me dressed up in my TMNT outfit at Long Beach Comic Con he said, “I have and idea for a shoot and I want you to do it.”  I looked at him and said, “Dude, I am so down!” And that’s how I got into cosplay 🙂

i-ffRGB6C-X2ILSN:  What inspires you when you choose characters?

Mila De:   I guess I get my inspiration from my childhood … all the cartoons and anime I used to watch, hah!IMG_79967692456489

ILSN:  Marvel vs DC vs Anime?

Mila De:   Ah crap! That’s a tough one -.-;
I love Marvel! I love Batman and Superman! I love Anime!

ILSN:  What was your childhood like growing up?

Mila De:   As a kid, my mom and I moved around a lot. My mom is my best friend, she knew I loved Sailor Moon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Power Rangers .. when she could, she would buy me something of the three. 🙂IMG_5722536358187

ILSN:  Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Mila De:   In five years, I predict I would have done majority of the things I want to do and working hard to make my dreams come true, be done with school, and most likely be traveling and doing humanitarian work, and speaking 7 languages by then.

IMG_5654296673130ILSN:  What do you do to inspire yourself?

Mila De:  I find my inspiration through my Sidekick, he’s my guardian angel.
He always believed in me, he’d say, “make it happen!” And to take it one day at a time, and take care of one thing at a time.

ILSN:  What do you like to do for fun?

Mila De:   I’m not much of a crazy party animal like I was when I was living in Las Vegas, but I still party and enjoy hanging out and goofing off with my friends. I enjoy the outdoors — going to the beach, hiking, going on random adventures and getting lost with my best friends, riding motorcycles. Playing on my PS3, Wii, or N64, or my roommate’s Xbox360. Even though I’m horrible at it right now I like playing either my ukulele, my acoustic, or piano, and singing. I almost forgot dancing in the rain, literally! Work is fun … sometimes, haha!received_m_mid_1392427867809_78537ce96d1e6b3f14_0

ILSN:  What kind of music do you like?

Mila De:   My top favorite genres of music is Rock/Emo/Acoustic, then EDM, then Pop, then Hip Hop/R&B.
I really listen to almost everything, I mean that.

ILSN:  What kind of nerd are you?

Mila De:   Hm.. I don’t even know how to answer that.
I have a about 50+ comic books on my book shelves with a bunch of paranormal, fantasy, romance, adult books from my favorite author. I have a lot of TMNT, Batman, and Adventure Time stuff at home. I curse at like a sailor when playing COD, playing Street Fighter IV on my PS3 or Wii as well as Super Smash Bros. Brawl with or without my friends. When I play Pokemon Puzzle on my N64 and I lose to Mewtwo it actually ruins my day until I beat him. Yeah .. I feel like I just told my life story LOL!IMG_5722536358187IMG_2996

ILSN:  Is there anything you are promoting right now?

Mila De:   I will be attending Long Beach Comic Expo and I am actually promoting for Extreme Autofest Anaheim at Angel Stadium both events on May 31st!

ILSN:  What is the nerdiest thing you have done?

Mila De:   Beaten my hard core gamer friends at the games they’re good at. I forget which X-Men movie it was, but my friends’ and I got into argument about a few of the characters and I went off naming almost each character and their powers/skills. Try to imitate character voices when I watch cartoons. I don’t know ..

ILSN:  Do people ever recognize you when you go out?

Mila De:   It’s happened a few times.

IMG_2986ILSN:  What is the craziest gift a fan has ever given you?

Mila De:   One of my fans bought me a Hello Kitty Necklace twice!

ILSN:  What is the hottest costume you have ever worn?

Mila De:   Hottest costume .. I guess it has to be the TMNT outfit.

ILSN:  Favorite Food?

Mila De:   That’s tough… I have a lot of favorites. All Asian foods for sure, sushi and noodles the most. Uh .. burgers, wings, salads, annd sweets.

ILSN:  Favorite Movies?

Mila De:   Too many favorite movies to name, I want to say both Despicable Me movies, Moulin Rouge, A Walk To Remember, Kung Fu Panda, Flash Point, Super Troopers, The Great Gatsby .. yeah, I have a lot movie favorites it’s hard to choose.IMG_2989

ILSN:  Favorite Video Games?

Mila De:   Pokémon Puzzle League on N64! Call Of Duty, Mario Kart N64 and Wii, Super Smash Bros N64 and Wii.

ILSN:  I see you grew up in Alaska.  What were some fun things to do living out there?

Gwendolynne Gee:   Oh how I miss Alaska! There is a lot to do out there, you just have to not be lazy. There is snow machining, mudding, snowboarding, but my favorite thing to do is just layout on the canoe with my best friend and float down the Chena River.

Aby Vee aka Bad Aby Nerd of the Month

599921_377014152357124_1439296019_nThis months NERD of the MONTH is Aby Vee Aka Bad Abby.  She is a model and a professional designer.  She is the inventor and designer of the “Shark Bite Monokini” aka The Sharkini.  Check out her interview.
ILSN :  Tell us a little bit about yourself?  What is your background in fashion designing?

Bad Aby:  I am a FIDM sf alum 2010. I started making prom dresses when i was in high school (starting with my own) and ever since then i was destined to push my design limits and cultivate my talent. I’ve always been kind of the weird kid that can’t really take myself seriously, probably really misunderstood but i kind of liked it that way. I think my fashion really reflects that.
ILSN:  Tell us about your website? ?
Bad Aby: is really just a place you can see my latest projects, link to my social media and stores and also get a feel for what my brand is all about. If you get ME, then you definitely get my brand.
ILSN:  When you designed the “Shark Bite Monokini” aka Sharkini what was your inspiration?
Bad Aby:  Well sharks duh. i was designing a few custom pieces for a friends shark week party, and after several sketches, the “Shark bite Monokini” was just born. I didn’t really think too much about it, except that i thought it was really cool that it looked like a shark, but as usual, i thought i was the only one to see its awesomeness. i was def wrong lol.

ILSN: Which TV shows have your outfits been featured on?

Bad Aby  I can’t even remember all of them, its been on CNN, WGM, Good Morning America, The Kelly and Michael show, just to name a few.
ILSN: How did you get into doing cosplay costumes?
IBad Aby  I had made a custom costume of Chun li for a friend of mine for Halloween one year, and her friend who i think was in marketing for Namco Bandai games saw it and was so impressed that they got in contact with me through my friend and then i was doing all the cosplays for Namco’s TEkken 6. That project was super challenging but sooo much fun!
ILSN: What inspires you when you choose characters?
Bad Aby:  Honestly, the more intricate the costumes the more it excites me.

ILSN: Marvel vs DC vs Anime?

Bad Aby:  MARVEL all the way. i guess im just an old fashion girl like that.

ILSN: What was your childhood like growing up?

Bad Aby  I want to say normal, but i was a tomboy mixed with a hyper energetic imagination, i got in trouble a lot of playing in places i shouldn’t and hitting boys lol. I had a twin sis and a lil bro to cause havoc with, and it was always interesting when our imaginations came together.

66486_559296984128839_2018287769_nILSN: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Bad Aby:  I dream of launching my brand and really taking it as far as i can go. making B.A.D a household name.

ILSN: What do you do to inspire yourself?

Bad Aby:  I relax. when i don’t have a billion things to think about, that’s when i have the best and randomness ideas come to me. i also travel, the world is so inspiring, its absolutely necessary to see the world.

Bad Aby:  I like to dance, work out, play outside, shop at IKEA, try new food, and travel.

NERD of the MONTH Karen Sakai

Do you have a mini bio about yourself?
My name is Karen Sakai. I’m a part-time model & cosplayer. I’m also a co-host on the world famous podcast, Alpha Nerds. My real job is a primatologist/anthropologist. I study the culture of pongids (the great apes) & I have communicated via ASL with chimpanzees. The facility was shut down because many people thought it was unethical to take an endangered species and cross-foster them with a entirely different species (us). For now, I am just decoding data from past communication as a post-bach and I’m working toward either becoming a Naval officer or a Ph.D student in primatology.1521672_746341178727976_1868449052_n

I see you were a Military Police in the Navy.  What is the craziest story you could tell us?
I remember when a captain (O6) was high off heroine and beat a young sailor with a Mag light until she passed out. I also saw much trafficking in the USA. Human organs were used in the black market for surgery as well as consumption. That was quite odd to see.1901400_781303138565113_621993396_n
What is your weapon of choice?
If this is referring to the Navy, I really enjoyed using the M-16 rifle.
Q:  Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m half Caucasian (Irish, German) and half Japanese. I have D34 implants, and a white girl booty (haha). I’m highly educated, but I also have a great sense of humor. I hope to become successful in modeling and I hope to be discovered and make that a career. I know many famous models will get cocky in the long run & lose their kind personalities, but I know for a fact that no matter how popular I get, I want my fans to know that I’m approachable and friendly. I want to be be a leader that not all models are full of themselves and that they know their popularity relies on their fans. At this point, I have very low-self esteem due to being bullied and segregated in the past (mainly for being a “Eurasian”) and hearing wonderful compliments really help me. So I guess I want to thank each & every person for helping me with my confidence. 603650_781147081914052_2071377552_n
Tell us about your website? ?
I have a few websites such as my Facebook fan page, Twitter, Instagram, Twitch.TV, Miss Playboy Social, and I currently just applied to be on Suicide Girls and Model Mayhem. I do have a site where people can buy my photos which is I hope to earn some income there so I can improve my cosplaying/modeling and develop a wonderful portfolio. Like I mentioned, my popularity depends on my fans and that means I need happy fans!! (:1958441_780723391956421_1587701327_n

How did you get into doing cosplay costumes?

Funny story! I was always into cosplaying but when I started to do it which was around the end of 1999-2000, females that were into nerdy/geeky/game-like stuff was not acceptable. I was bullied and picked on for being a “tom-boy” and being a nerd. Because of that, it shut me down to want to cosplay and I also kept my love of comics, games, table-top games, larping, a secret. Now that every other female is into that, I feel like it’s safe to start back up. Sadly, I feel like I started to late and although I might have been one of the first American females to be into cosplaying, I let the bullying and self-deappreciation get to me.
What inspires you when you choose characters?
I always had a heart for characters that were under appreciated it. I feel like those characters represented myself growing up. My first cosplay was Weevil Underwood (Insector Haga) from Yu-Gi-Oh! He was sassy, confident, & under appreciated, thus, I felt a close connection to him. Another character that I really liked is Malon from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She was a innocent girl that loved animals which is something I love as well: animals. I couldn’t not cosplay as Malon because I did not have the resources nor knowledge or money to create her outfit and style. I hope to on day cosplay as her and even use live horses as a prop.1964987_777764058919021_1225821946_n
Marvel vs DC vs Anime?
I like all three, but my favorite would have to be Marvel. Probably because I was exposed to Marvel the most. I really liked the character Wolverine because he had lots of self-confidence as well as a love for Japan. He even had children that were half Japanese, again, something that related to me. (:
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I hope to become more popular with the modeling/cosplaying thing. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll probably be in school working on my thesis for my Ph.D. That, or a Naval officer. Ha ha.
What do you do to inspire yourself?
Things that inspire me are my pets, video games, comics, and friends. Oh and of course the podcast. I meet great folks from guests on the podcasts and when I add them on their personal Facebook, I realize what nice people they are. They give me tips on better cosplay as well as motivation to keep up my modeling.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy everyday girly things like shopping, makeup, reading comic books and past anthropological works or ethnographies. I also enjoy gardening and cooking. What I recently discovered is yoga & pilates!! It’s so much fun and relaxing and it’s great for your body!!!
What kind of music do you like?
I like all music. But my favorite would have to be power metal and R&B.
What kind of nerd are you?
I like everything. But my favorite “nerdy” thing is video games.
Is there anything you are promoting right now?
Since I’m new and not really “out there” I’m just promoting my Store Envy site so fans can purchase some photos. That will bring in some income which will help me purchase more outfits and what not. I have a Amazon wishlist, but no one has gotten me anything yet, ha ha.
What is the nerdiest thing you have done?
I used to larp Warcraft when I was in elementary school. It felt really great. During that time, I lived in an abusive broken home, but larping was a way for me to be someone else, someone that I wanted to be, either a prince or a princess *cough cough Arthas Menethil / Princess Zelda*
Do people ever recognize you when you go out?
I wish, but I’m not that popular yet.
What is the craziest gift a fan has ever given you?
The craziest gift I ever received was a donation of 50$. The guy didn’t even know me & was watching me play League of Legends and I received an e-mail saying he donated 50 bucks to me. I tried hard not to cry because I was streaming live, but I did tear and ruin some of my makeup. Ha ha.
What is the hottest costume you have ever worn?
The hottest costume I ever wore was my birthday suit!!!
Favorite food?
My favorite food is Thai!!
Next is Japanese food, because that’s comfort food for me. (=
Favorite Movies?
My favorite movies are chick flicks haha. I really enjoyed Jurassic Park (not a chick flick, LOL), the Notebook, & Sleepy Hallow. Ha ha. Oh and of course all Disney movies. =p
Favorite Video Games?
Hands down, all Zelda games and all Harvest Moons. But anything that’s an RPG I love.
Give me the links to the following.
Probably my Store Envy :

Any final thoughts or words?

Yes, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer these questions. I feel honored & warm-hearted that you gave me this chance to get myself out there. People like you give models the chance to get themselves noticed and without people like you, I would be no where. Thank you once again. Or should I say, どもありがとうございます。本当にありがとう。
Thanks a million
No, thank YOU for giving me the chance to answer these. I hope I answered everything correctly, & please let me know if you need anything else,
Karen Sakai

Rian Synnth Nerd of the Month

The 2014 NERD of the month is Rian Synnth.  She is from So Cal and likes to go to cons in So Cal.  She was nice enough to do a Q and A with us.

ILSN:  First question.  How did you get the name Rian Synnth?

Rian Synnth: When my mom was pregnant with me they thought I may be a boy, and if I was I was going to be named Ryan. I actually really loved the babe, but I wanted to spell it differently, more feminine I guess, so I guess that’s when Rian came to be. As for Synnth, she was actually one of my characters on World of Warcraft lol1375648_495796197185124_873285078_n

ILSN:Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Rian Synnth: Well as you probably know I’m a huge nerd, I particularly love gaming. I’m also a dancer, and have been doing color guard competitively for many years now.

2013-11-03 04.15.52ILSN:  Cool cosplay costumes!  What inspires you when you choose characters?

Rian Synnth: Thank you! Many things give me inspiration, but mostly characters I relate to a lot.944852_528972167200860_1803888531_n

ILSN:  What is the one cosplay outfit you are most proud of?

Rian Synnth: That’s a hard one, I guess I want to say Russell! Russell didn’t get a lot of popularity with the con, but I love that particular cosplay because almost every part of it was hand made and that is the one I put the most craftsmanship into.

8294_506591549438922_861094543_nILSN:  Marvel vs DC vs Anime?

Rian Synnth: Marvel! Though I have been getting a lot more into DC as of lately.2013-11-03 04.15.55

ILSN:  What was your childhood like growing up?

Rian Synnth: I was raised by my two brothers basically. My two NERDY brothers. I have no sisters, and my mom had to work all the time. From the get go I was surrounded by games, all the time. Pokemon cards, SNES, N64, and so much more. Both my brothers and my dad all game so it wasn’t shocking when I started to as well. My brothers definitely have shaped me into the nerd I am today.

2013-11-03 04.16.05ILSN:  Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Rian Synnth: Hopefully either finished with school or finishing up, I’m not sure what I want to go to school for yet so I guess this gives me time to figure it out. I definitely still want to be dancing and cosplaying that’s for sure!2013-11-03 04.16.38

ILSN:  What do you do to inspire yourself?

Rian Synnth: I definitely find my inspiration in the wildest of places, a whole lot of Disney movies and Disneyland. Lots of video games lately though.2013-11-03 04.16.14

ILSN:  What do you like to do for fun?

Rian Synnth: When I do find time between work and rehearsal, I game!

ILSN:  What kind of music do you like?

Rian Synnth: I can honestly say I like almost every genre of music, I especially enjoy classic rock and emo, and prog metal.

2013-11-03 04.16.20ILSN:  What kind of nerd are you?

Rian Synnth: Gamer girl! More than anything else.

ILSN:  Is there anything you are promoting right now?

Rian Synnth: I’m just promoting myself and trying to gain some traction on my page! I am also going to be in a web series on YouTube called Young Justice: Abduction where I will be playing Zatanna.

ILSN:  What is the nerdiest thing you have done?

Rian Synnth:  LAN parties… Lots and lots and LOTS of LAN parties. My boyfriend and I would set up with our neighbors in their garage like every week and set up laptops and monitors and xboxs anywhere there was space. Did I mention we didn’t sleep for like, days? Lol

2013-11-03 04.15.15ILSN:  Do people ever recognize you when you go out?

Rian Synnth: Actually the first time that has happened was Comikaze this year! People recognized me out of costume and it was really awesome!

ILSN:  What is the craziest gift a fan has ever given you?

Rian Synnth: I wish I could say my fans have sent me love mail! But sadly I have not received any fan mail 😦

ILSN:  What is the hottest costume you have ever worn?

Rian Synnth: Zatanna has definitely been my most revealing cosplay to date!

ILSN:  Favorite food?

Rian Synnth: Sushi, and not just because I’m Asian 😉

1375780_490067397758004_1861279080_nILSN:   Any advice to new cosplayers out there?

Rian Synnth: Start simple and work your way up, I have definitely been guilty of buying off more than I can chew. Have fun! That is definitely the most important part.

1378684_490066864424724_1248657888_nFavorite Movies?

Rian Synnth: The Little Mermaids is my all time favorite movie ever!1382023_490067147758029_218061813_n

ILSN:Favorite Video Games?

Rian Synnth: that’s a hard one! It’s hard to pick just one, but Gears of War and Zelda are just a couple of my favorites.1393784_490062611091816_513563865_n

Nerd of the Month Yuks General!

ILSN Nerd of the month is Yuks General Cosplay.    She is new to the cosplay scene and a advid gamer.

IloveSEXYnerds:  Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Yuks:  I got into cosplay since Anime Expo 2013, and after a short while I started working on armor building. I mainly work with thermoplastic, leather, Acrylic sheets, PVC, gesso, metal, etc. Plus I love adding EL or LED lights on my project! I don’t usually use foam or craft foam because I cant sand it (I am a primer and sanding freak…). I learned everything from Google and friends. I am also a part of the Compulsive Cosplay.  Cosplay and prop making are fantastic. I am willing and ready to devote myself to them under any cost.1378675_361253674008837_1643425488_n

Yuks:   2013 Anime Expo I was dragged along by my friends. I was in my tin top, shorts and boots, and people started to call me Lora Croft and ask for pictures.
